Help Keep Impacted Minnesota Families Housed in the Midst of Crisis

What is written here is from John Wilson, Founder of the Wilson Foundation 501(c)(3)

Please join us today – we’re matching up to $1.5 million dollars in donations to keep families in Minnesota housed. We are extremely grateful for your help and proud to report that 100% of your donation is distributed to those in need. And your donation is tax deductible.

Month by month we need to get families through June where we expect they’ll be back to work and financially stable.

Government assistance has been blocked by Republicans with virtually no chance of arriving. Feel free to make calls and encourage them to do the right thing.

It’s now up to everyone nationwide that understands the value of human dignity to make a stand. Together we can ensure that the abominations we’ve all witnessed don’t leave a permanent trail of destruction and despair throughout the immigrant community.

To those of you the have joined our cause – thank you! I wish you could truly know just how grateful the immigrant families are for your help as well as all of the every day people in the trenches like teachers, social workers, and volunteers. These families are proud people and not looking for handouts. He is one small example of how families feel when their landlord gets paid.

Right now, given our limited financial wherewithal, we are triaging families and allocating money to those on the verge of eviction which does not include those for which we have made partial payments for February such as the families in the area tied to this text I received on 2-24-2026. We will do our best to catch up to them but if this text bothers you as much as me, please help us and spread the word to all your likeminded friends.

The process of covering rent works like this:

  • Neighborhoods are spreading the word about rent relief though their schools, churches, social workers, and other people that the immigrant community trusts
  • Monetary requirements to cover rent are being compiled under a needs assessment by social workers and others with similar skills.
  • The party in need is not known by anyone other than on a need to know basis.
  • Wilson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, tracks the needs from community to community and neighborhood to neighborhood. For me this is the most disheartening part because they are formidable and getting worse.
  • Wilson Foundation disseminates funds to vetted, tried and true 501(c)(3) entities that are fully capable of ensuring money is channeled appropriately to landlords etc.
  • Everything is well structured and provides systematic assessment and dissemination
  • Interesting fact: Many landlords and property managers are deeply supportive of their tenants and just as distraught as the rest of us. Unfortunately, they also have mortgages and bills to pay.

An example of entities that are receiving the matching funds include those described here https://www.standwithminnesota.com/ with Yesod and Neighbors Helping Neighbors both covering the metro and first tier suburbs.

When rent goes unpaid, everything unravels. Families face displacement. Children lose stability. The cost to communities multiplies.

Right now, the most urgent need is simple and critical: PAY THE RENT.

There is no backup plan once families lose their homes. Preventing eviction is the most stabilizing, cost-effective, and humane response available.

The Wilson Foundation is totally committed to acting now, matching donations and moving directly, urgently, and at scale to ensure Minnesota families remain housed during this crisis.

  • Donations will be matched up to $1.5 million – every dollar you donate becomes two!
  • Your support tells people who feel invisible that they matter.
  • You offer hope to families who are facing eviction, have few resources, are isolated, and are quietly carrying the heavy weight of an uncertain future.
  • Our structure allows nearly every dollar to go straight to people who need it. Over the past two years, we’ve provided $20 million in community support, with operating costs of only $200,000 in 2025.
