We are desperately and successfully fighting off evictions but despite deploying $8 million into rent from our effort, it’s nearly April and hundreds of families are still not able to pay February rent and thousands won’t have money for March rent either.

To deal with this critical situation, the Wilson Foundation is now matching up to $16.0 million in contributions coming through this website. Big or small, every donation counts!

All money is disseminated though proven and trusted neighborhood rent‑relief partners who are doing the heavy lifting to prevent families from being evicted.

Parents and children are in dire need of hope as they face the uncertainty of tomorrow. You can make all the difference.

PLEASE DON’T WAIT AND PLEASE STICK WITH US

We have done our homework and week by week and month by month we need to get families through June where we expect they’ll be back to work and financially stable.

Government assistance has been blocked by politicians in the Minnesota House with virtually no chance of arriving. If you live in Minnesota feel free to make calls to your local representative and encourage them to do the right thing.

It’s now up to everyone nationwide that understands the value of human dignity to make a stand. Call your friends. Together we can ensure that what we’ve all witnessed doesn’t leave a permanent trail of destruction and despair throughout the immigrant community.

These families are proud people and not looking for handouts. He is one small example of how families feel when their landlord gets paid thanks to you.

The process of covering rent works like this:

  • Neighborhoods are spreading the word about rent relief though their schools, churches, social workers, and other people that the immigrant community trusts
  • Monetary requirements to cover rent are being compiled under a needs assessment by social workers and others with similar skills.
  • The party in need is not known by anyone other than on a need to know basis.
  • Wilson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, tracks the needs from community to community and neighborhood to neighborhood. For me this is the most disheartening part because they are formidable and getting worse.
  • Wilson Foundation disseminates funds to vetted, tried and true 501(c)(3) entities that are fully capable of ensuring money is channeled appropriately to landlords etc.
  • Everything is well structured and provides systematic assessment and dissemination
  • Interesting fact: Many landlords and property managers are deeply supportive of their tenants and just as distraught as the rest of us. Unfortunately, they also have mortgages and bills to pay.

When rent goes unpaid, everything unravels. Families face displacement. Children lose stability. The cost to communities multiplies.

Right now, the most urgent need is simple and critical: PAY THE RENT.

There is no backup plan once families lose their homes. Preventing eviction is the most stabilizing, cost-effective, and humane response available.

The Wilson Foundation is totally committed to acting now, matching donations and moving directly, urgently, and at scale to ensure Minnesota families remain housed during this crisis.

A moment to reflect. We’ve been receiving many donations in memory of Hayley Dykhoff, who recently passed away and was a strong advocate for our cause. Although I never had the privilege of meeting Hayley, she will be in my thoughts as we continue the work she cared about so deeply.

  • Donations will be matched up to $6.0 million – every dollar you donate becomes two!
  • Your support tells people who feel invisible that they matter.
  • You offer hope to families who are facing eviction, have few resources, are isolated, and are quietly carrying the heavy weight of an uncertain future.
  • Your money goes straight to people who need it. We do not pay for any support staff. All efforts are on a volunteer basis.
